summer vintage clothing

How is it that today’s the first time I’ve stumbled upon Clever Nettle’s vintage shop? They’ve got lots of gorgeous items in stock for spring and summer and I love the way they’ve used paper art in the photos for their most recent collection.

vintage botanical prints

How sweet is this little vintage shop? I love vintage botanical prints and it’s fun to see them being used in so many different ways – jewelry boxes, clocks and more are in stock in the shop. The Montana based owner and curator of this shop has a great eye!

Lackluster Vintage Co.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I wanted to post about a new vintage shop I discovered and then I’ve got to get to work (am a bit behind already today!) – do check back throughout the week though, I have lots of great things ready to be shared…

I think you’ll agree with me, Lackluster Vintage Co. is anything but lackluster – click here to visit this wonderful vintage shop! So many pieces I’d like to have in my home. This same talented curator also has a gorgeous jewelry shop here.

Get Growing!

Open Door Studio features a lovely array of vintage goods – even some to get you ready for gardening season. Not only is the owner of this shop a wonderful collector of all things vintage, she also clearly has a way with a camera too. Just looking at these images makes me wish I had a garden! Perhaps when we move we can see about getting some window boxes or something along those lines so I can have an outlet for my aspiring green thumb.

Sweet, Sweet Vintage

Vintage Wren

Clearly I’m on a vintage kick lately! Why vintage? Well – the prices are usually very affordable, and often times the items you find are of a better quality than what you can find in most mall shops. And if a vintage style appeals to you now – it seems that even when you tire of it there’s a good chance that in a couple years that item will appeal to you again – as fashion trends are pretty cyclical. Also it’s so eco-friendly. You’re using something that already “exists” – avoiding the need for something new to be made… As I see it – it’s guilt free shopping at it’s finest!

Click here to shop The Vintage Wren’s Etsy store – she has brought together a wonderful selection of clothing, shoes and home decor items.

Lovely Decor – On a Budget

January 28, 2010

cheap and chic

When I was new to decorating, I thought there was either Ikea, or the gorgeous furniture stores that required a second mortgage to get a new bedroom set. So glad I’ve been educated now by seeing all the wonderful items available on Etsy and at local vintage shops. Some fresh paint, the right accessories, refinished furniture, craigslist, and you can do a lot with a room without breaking the bank. In the long run it’s also an opportunity to do some good for the planet too – vintage is wonderfully eco-friendly and when you purchase from local artisans or sellers who live closer to you, this means a shorter distance the goods have to travel – which can only be a good thing. The above images are from Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens.

The below items are all from Le Vintage Maison – now I’m wondering how I hadn’t found this shop earlier. Searched for Lotus Bowls on Etsy and voila, there you have it. Even more fun for me, Jill lives in Omaha – the city next to my family’s home in Iowa.

I’d love to hear your money saving tips and clever decorating ideas!

Miss Modish Vintage – Portland Feature

December 15, 2009

Featuring vintage clothing with a range of great colors and patterns, Miss Modish’s etsy shop is a wonderful find. The clothing she stocks would add flair to anyone’s wardrobe, and I’m particularly liking the outerwear. Those coats could only make my winter shopping trips more fun. As a fellow Portlander, I wonder if Miss Modish is preparing for our winter weather in great vintage finds of her own?
