Yellow Kitchen Inspiration

April 9, 2010

This lovely yellow kitchen is the perfect pick me up at the end of a long-ish week. Yes – we can all take a deep breath, because it’s Friday! I’d love to hear your plans for the weekend if you’d like to share. For me some r&r for sure and I definitely need to catch up on a few things work wise…

Found this lovely kitchen via this blog and they found it via this magazine.

Office Closet Inspiration

April 7, 2010

Visited Country Living today and came upon some great home decor inspiration – for an “office closet”! This is the type of thing that might only inspire the long time city dweller… For now I’ve got a great sized office, but I know in the future I may not be so lucky if we stay in the city after having children. I also came across this wonderful tutorial on Pepper Design Blog with a step by step break down on designing your own office closet in case you’re interested.

The above room belongs to the owner of the Petits Details shop on Etsy. She is an American living outside of Paris with a love for vintage and handmade items. For more photos click here.

This lovely studio belongs to Paola of Italy – she has an Etsy shop Atelier Pompadour, here, and she shares more photos here.

Another fun crafting space belonging to an Etsyian. This seller is from Leeds, and you can visit her Etsy shop here, and to see more of her photos click here.

I think when you work from home the look and feel of your place takes on even more significance. For my husband and I we put off adding finishing touches to our place, just due to lack of time and giving priority to other things.

With staging our place for sale we’ve managed to make a lot of little changes that make our home so much more comfortable. I’m promising myself now that if we do end up moving we won’t put off adding some finishing touches to our new home. We’ve chatted about it a bit as we’ve both noticed how much more we enjoy our place now.

My favorite room in our home is hands down my office – I’ll post photos sometime soon. Even if your apartment is small (ours is not huge) I think it’s great if each member of the house can have at least a small corner that is theirs, to decorate just the way they like it and to enjoy some solitude from time to time.

The above are some photos I found online of office spaces and craft rooms that I find inspiring.

Bright On Target

We usually focus on North American stores, but when I saw the unique patterns and bright colors of Kalla, I couldn’t resist sharing these creations.

Hitomi Kimura is a textile designer and screen printer who hand prints all her designs using water-based inks. She works out of her home studio in Ibaraki, Japan, and I love how her products bring a bit of cheerfulness to any room.

Olivier Dupon

Home décor is still on my mind in a big way… We have had a few showings of our apartment so far, and we have a couple open houses this weekend. I was happy to find fresh inspiration in Olivier Dupon’s home, as featured over at daily imprint. I love the inviting feel of his home and how he incorporates bright pops of color and unique items, like that great bedside table.

Be sure to check out Daily Imprint for other images and take a peek at Olivier Dupon’s blog, Dossier 37.

I feel like it’s been awhile since I’ve posted any home interiors… And with all the work we’ve been doing on our place lately to get it ready to put on the market decorating is definitely on my mind. So I was happy tonight when I came across this home – I really love the airy look and pretty feel of this space, found on Elena’s blog. Iro-Ivy is the talented freelance stylist and interior designer who lives here!

Wadeworks Pottery

wadeworks pottery

We just moved back into our apartment tonight (many of us Vancouverites who live downtown took a break from the city for the duration of the games) – so I’m beat! Did find a wonderful potter tonight that I’d like to share with you before I call it a day…

The potter behind Wadeworks Pottery has been working with clay ever since she was a little girl. A lot of her work is wheelthrown, though some of her work is handbuilt too. I’ve got my eyes on all of the pieces in her current collection – the minimal white, with beautifully colored interiors are just gorgeous.

Being green. Because I agree with Kermit, I am always impressed with the Etsy shops I find whose owners have a strong commitment to keeping it green.

Do check out Enhabiten’s gorgeous pillows and home decor here. For the key racks above and more repurposed home decor from half pint salvage – click here.

Jenna Rose

February 15, 2010

I’ve already noted recently that you can find pretty much anything you’re looking for on Etsy – another thing that I constantly marvel at, just how much talent there is – every time I’m on the site I come across a wonderful new artist! I was so thrilled to stumble upon the work of Jenna Rose tonight. When I noted she was a fellow Canadian I knew I had to share her work. Each of her items features her own original illustrations, which she screen-prints with water based pigments and natural or organic materials. You can visit her shop here.

I also had a great time looking through her blog – and was so inspired by these illustrations from her sketchbook (pictured below).
