What Summer Means to You

June 16, 2010

I thought’d it be fun today to consider what summer means to each of us… I’ve gathered a few images from here and there that make me think of summer days and evenings around the home and design trends that go along with each. The below represent some of my favorite ways to spend longer days at a much slower pace than the rest of the year. I know for many of us we could write sonnets and songs dedicated to summer because we love it so much – but for others, they prefer another time of year and might skip summer altogether if given the choice!

Janet Hill

June 14, 2010

janet hill

Today I’ve got my eyes on the work of Janet Hill Studio. Each piece makes me imagine a different era, of days gone by and of simple pleasures. Looking at these paintings I want to spend endless days baking and entertaining at garden parties out in the sun! Click here to visit Janet’s shop.

I hope everyone had a great weekend – mine was spent at home, sick – but I had a lot of fun working on a new project that I’m looking forward to sharing soon. While I’m still a bit sick, I’m feeling relaxed and ready for another busy week – hoping this sunshine sticks around!

Get the Look – London Townhouse

June 10, 2010

How pretty is this space from Elle Decor? I’m loving the laid back design and mix of vintage finds with carefully selected new items – you can see the rest of the spread here. This London Townhouse, owned by Christine d’Ornano and photographed by Simon Upton, seemed just right to pair with some Etsy finds, which I’ve done below. I love the mix of bright yellows, pinks, and more subdued hues throughout the dining room and living room.

Flores del Sol – Flower Arrangements

Every time I think I’ve seen all there is to see on Etsy I stumble upon a delightful shop like this one. Flores del Sol features delightful flower arrangements created by Christina Moreno.

All of Christina’s modern dried floral and fresh container plantings are created at her home – allowing her to take care of her two young girls and continue to grow her business. For the horticulturally minded her blog is such a treat too – you’ll definitely want to take a peek at it here.

A Room with a View

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Mine was filled with time away from the computer and was really nice. Wanted to share this space with you today, I was especially taken in by the view in the top photo. So lovely! These photos were taken by the Australian photographer Lucas Allen. I love these two rooms and their emphasis on beautiful colors, reclaimed objects and nature. I’ve found some items from Etsy that I think would go really well in these spaces (middle image above). Found the space via the design blog Charming Quark.

My red bike…

June 3, 2010

Alright so the red bike below isn’t mine, though I wish it was… These photos are what’s inspiring me today – our first semi-sunny day in a while here in Vancouver after days of rain. I’m having a great, though busy day – leaving soon to see my niece’s musical and then back to finish more work that I’m on deadline for. So it’s a long day – but tomorrow is Friday! And that is something to cheer about :)

The below photos were taken by Annika Vannerus, and I found them via Girl from the Corner Table. The bottom picture is of some super fun lamps available on Etsy here.

DIY – Living Table

diy flower table

I’m a big fan of this sweet little diy! Can you imagine your guests faces at first when seeing this flower? I’m also thinking you could try something fun with a few flowers – even creating some kind of permanent “installation piece” ;) on your own dining room table. I think it could be a really fun way to “dress up” a side table too.

And happy Wednesday!

May 24, 2010

What a gorgeous loft space… It’s fun to dream from time to time here on the blog just how lovely it would be to live in a home that is this beautifully decorated and with such a keen eye for design.

I’ve paired some of the pics with a few great Etsy finds.
