Many of you may already be familiar with the beautiful work of Myan Photography – I stumbled upon it again last night and thought I’d post about it today. It sure fits my current mood and I’m guessing it might fit yours too! For me, the last place I want to be these days is at the computer, and these photos help remind me where I ought to be as often as possible, since it is summer after all. As I see it, these photos perfectly capture the most beautiful sun drenched moments each summer seems to bring.
It’s a great time to get some pieces from the shop, I noticed one sale item in particular that piqued my interest – you can get a special offer when you purchase any 4 5×5 or 5×7 prints. Perfect pieces to remember summer 2010 by.

Well another week is almost over, and the weekend is just around the corner! I’m pretty excited about this one, and I’m not 100% sure how we’ll fit in all of our plans- but I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun. A dear friend is in town from Montreal so I am excited to see her, we have the fireworks one night, and a picnic to go to on Sunday too! Whatever you have planned I hope it’s fun, involves at least a bit of time away from your computer or work, and that the weather co-operates!
I love the top picture here from Yvette Inufio and I can’t help but think what a happy gal I’d be if I had a vintage picnic set like this one.

You Tube Documentary Project ~ Life in a Day
If you’re anything like me, I’m sure your work day involves visiting You Tube at least once. I’m personally a huge fan of their favorites feature, it’s a great way to keep a playlist of songs organized. Last night I was checking out this new to me song by The Black Keys (what a fun video) when I noticed an ad at the top for a fun documentary project that Youtube is part of – Life in a Day. They’re opening it up to everyone to participate – and the premise seems pretty straightforward, grab a video camera and document a day in your life this Saturday, July 24th. Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald will be teaming up to direct and produce an experimental film using the footage they choose from the submissions they receive. If that’s not exciting enough – the film will be premiering at Sundance in July 2011. Click here for all the details on the project. If you decide to participate, do leave a comment on the blog to let me know – I know we’d all love to see what you come up with!

I spotted Pugly Pixel’s dollhouse miniature prints on the homepage of Etsy last night, and wanted to post about them right there and then. I held back until today – but am still excited to share them with you! I know for many of us dollhouses have a special place in our hearts – even though we’re adults now. For me – I know it’s because my grandma had her own dollhouse and also had my grandpa make one for all of her granddaughters – including me. It was around that time that I was introduced to the magic of miniatures. My grandma had a subscription to this great miniatures magazine and I would pore over every edition, marveling at all the detailed work. Now I see these prints and I’d really like to have them for our kitchen – they’re so fun!
Click here to visit the Pugly Pixel shop, and do visit her blog here too.
Hope your weekend is wonderful and it’s hot and sunny where you are – but maybe not too hot! We’ll be going on our weekly hike and I’m sure I’ll make some time for some fun projects too.

Thanks to Jambo Chameleon for including my love posters in the sweet summer treasury you put together. Alongside my love posters I found a bunch of new favorite items – that remind me how much I’m enjoying that summer has finally arrived around here! I’ve got some plans made for time at the beach and am thinking some gelato will be in order – hope you’ve got some fun plans for the week ahead too.
Click here to see the whole treasury and to visit the shops included above – many more great items were chosen.

I came across Dawn Ng’s work this weekend and was particularly taken in by the first image above. It’s so beautiful – it reminds me of that feeling you get in an art gallery or museum when you stumble upon something so unique and beautiful in it’s construction that you find yourself tugging the shirt sleeve of whoever you’re with – because you want them to come over and see it right then, with you. I think you’ll want to read Dawn’s beautiful words about the piece here too.
I’ve also included some of Dawn’s street art installations that caught my eye. I love the beautiful simplicity I see in each work and how they brighten up the urban landscape and bring some needed sweetness to the otherwise mundane concrete surroundings.
Hope your weekend was great – and you’re feeling ready for the week ahead! I’ll be back tomorrow with more finds.

Little Brown Pen – New Photos
I’ve long been a fan of Nichole’s artwork and when I popped in to her shop today I was delighted to see this new series of photos – all in bright yellow, a perfect summer pick me up!
Not only is Nichole a talented writer and photographer, she has a love for Paris that I’d say is unparalleled and also very inspiring. It’s so fun to read her story – she and her husband choose to forgo many every day luxuries to finance trips to Paris every 4-6 weeks. It’s a city that she loves not for it’s fashion or the hot spots, instead it’s something in the energy she finds there that keeps her going back for more. Again. And again. And again!
I know for a lot of us who are self-employed we choose to forgo certain things so we can be more dedicated to our craft. Do you have things you sacrifice so you can spend more time or money on the things you’re most passionate about?
Click here to visit her Etsy shop.

The Sketchbook Project is calling one and all to sign up for their travelling exhibition! When I hear about ideas like the sketchbook project, I’m so excited to share them. Anyone can take part – and the concept is really straightforward. Sign up on their site, choose your theme, and your work may be chosen to go on their travelling tour through 6 American cities. Once the tour is over everyone’s work will become part of the permanent collection of the Brooklyn art library. For more details on the project: click here
Thanks to Patsy Kolesar for sharing this find. The image above is courtesy of Kate Castelli.

Today I’ve got my eyes on the work of Janet Hill Studio. Each piece makes me imagine a different era, of days gone by and of simple pleasures. Looking at these paintings I want to spend endless days baking and entertaining at garden parties out in the sun! Click here to visit Janet’s shop.
I hope everyone had a great weekend – mine was spent at home, sick – but I had a lot of fun working on a new project that I’m looking forward to sharing soon. While I’m still a bit sick, I’m feeling relaxed and ready for another busy week – hoping this sunshine sticks around!
