It’s all about you…
January 7, 2010

Ok so maybe that kind of attitude will get you into trouble in the long run! But the last New Year’s Resolution we’ll be considering is making a bit more time for yourself. We all have a lot of demands on our time – work, family, friends and the list goes on and on. I think this is a great year to resolve to find even just a bit of time for yourself every day, that you get to spend doing what you want. And I can’t emphasize enough that it should be spent doing exactly what you want – I think that’s what makes it relaxing! So if that means tidying your house, drinking a cup of tea, reading a good book, finishing up a project, or brainstorming for a small business you have in mind I think it’s really refreshing to take that break before returning to everything else that we must do in a day. I’ve been making a conscious effort the last few weeks to do this and I am excited about how much more alive and creative it makes me feel.
Right now I’ve got a lot of art lying around my office that is calling out to be organized and hung – while searching online for some inspiration I came across Katie Stephenson’s fun new site – Art Wall, a virtual display space that features a new room and art every month. Another great find – and where I found all the pictures for the above collage, Katie’s flickr group which features a wide variety of art walls.
But hanging up and displaying all of the art I own is a task that I plan to get around to when I feel like it – I think it’ll be a bit more enjoyable that way, and I’m sure I’ll be happier with the results!
What’s your favorite way to relax?

You read my mind! This is something that is totally on my to-do list for this week/year (ha!). Both the stealing time for myself, which I’m doing right now and catching up on some lovely blogs, and the art wall. I’m hoping to get to that in the next couple days.
Have a lovely weekend!
this is a lovely post. i so rarely have time to myself, but i delighted in finding an hour today where i relaxed and read a book! [interrupted only a few times by a chatty 5 year old] it was great.
love the art wall, we had a black + white frame wall in our old place, and have yet to revive it here after 18 months. it’s on the list.
