Where the Wild Things Are – Into the Wild
November 3, 2009

I recently saw Spike Jonze’s “Where The Wild Things Are” and was inspired by the film to find some images that evoke a similar feel. I love the slightly dark and dreamy quality of the pictures. They’ll be perfect framed in a grouping on my bedroom wall. Oh the dreams I’ll have….on second thought, perhaps they’d be better suited to my office!

I have still yet to watch the movie – but it looks exciting!
(I suppose you can say this is a favourite post!)

I saw this movie and wasn’t a big fan of the movie itself but the feel was so amazing. I still love watching the trailer; it’s almost a mini-movie in and of itself. What beautiful images!
The artistry of the photographers evoke a sense of inner aspiration, to strive for greatness, and to escape the bleak womb of the world. The isolated nest suggests filial love as unconditional, no matter what season it is or how the winds rage. I just love the metaphor of life (the bird) amongst the dead, naked branches.
This is my favourite book of all time! The movie really captured the magic of Sendak’s illustrations. These photos definitely do the same – I love the Erin Tyner! So adorable…
